Windows On The Square - Limited Time Offer

For a limited time I am offering a great discount on many of the images from my Windows On The Square series.   I will be retiring some of these images in the near future, so this is a good way to save money on your favorite prints before they go away.

Windows On The Square  is a series of photographs of downtown Paris, Tennessee which I started in the Summer of 2007.   I was inspired by all the beautiful, historic two story buildings with fancy brick work and windows that look down on court house square.  Thus the title Windows On The Square. The series has a unique ethereal “look” which was applied to each photograph, creating a cohesive series of images.   Since making these photographs,  several business have changed hands, changed names and building fronts.

There are two ways you can take advantage of these discounts.
  • You can order fine art prints for as little as $17 from my online gallery here. You can also order note cards, canvas prints and even tote bags or pillows.
  • Or, you can purchase a digital download for $5 from my Etsy Shop located here and do your own prints, note cards, etc.  You can print as many as you like for the one time fee of $5.  You just can't sell the prints, cards, etc.  That would be violating my copyright.
Happy Shopping!

Paper Jewelry In My Etsy Shop

I re-opened my Etsy shop this summer and have slowly but surely been adding inventory to it.

For those of you who have been buying my jewelry at T.F. Rice & Co - never fear, they will continue to carry my jewelry.  As a matter of fact, if you see something in my online shop that you would prefer to buy at T.F. Rice & Co., or vice versa, just let me know.

This week I have been uploading paper jewelry.  (This is really time consuming.) Over the next few days, I'll be uploading clay jewelry.   I have lots of ideas for new pieces - just have to find the time to make them.

About my paper jewelry ….

As an artist I have always worked with high quality paper - artists and watercolor papers, papers used for fine art prints and papers used for displays.  And I would always have pieces left over.  I hesitate to call these left over pieces “scraps” because  they are really quite beautiful forms of paper - archival, acid free, cotton rag and other fibers, some handmade papers - beautiful even in their natural, unpainted or uncolored state.

In the interest of being ecologically friendly I started  experimenting with paper.  Paper has been used in  jewelry for over 2000 years.  So it’s not a new idea, just a new look.

Paper is extremely versatile.  There’s no end to it’s shapes and colors and it’s very lightweight.  If you are afraid to wear big bold earrings because of the weight - think paper.  It’s light as a feather.  And all my paper pieces are sealed to make them water resistant (not water proof).  With a little care paper jewelry will last for many, many years.

I hand paint and draw my own designs onto these various forms of paper.  Then I combine this artwork with diverse materials including metal, wood,  glass and crystal beads.  When I have recyclable materials such as old or broken jewelry or buttons I like to include them whenever possible. I create each piece of jewelry myself with an eye for color, shape and texture.

By carefully mixing colors, shapes and textures, I try to create distinctive and unique jewelry.     Although some pieces may look similar, no two pieces are exactly alike.  My jewelry is not mass produced.  Each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of art.  However ... if you see a piece of my jewelry that you really like and it has already sold, please email me.  I might be able to make you something that is similar - maybe the same colors or some of the same features.

And as always, I happy to read your comments or suggestions.

Recycling Watercolor Paper Into Earrings

I love it when I get to make something so pretty out of mistakes and scraps.  All of these earrings were made from watercolor paper.  If you like to wear big, dangly earrings but don't because they are too heavy - this is what you need. You won't believe how light they are.

No two pairs are exactly alike.  Painted by hand, by me.  Sealed to make them water resistant.

Just a little preview of new earrings I'll be taking over to T.F. Rice & Co. later this week.  Come on down and check them out!

Each piece is a little masterpiece!

In The Works

What I'm working on today.

Feather light earrings.  Those big round ones at the bottom are 2 1/4 inches across - really big, but feather light. I'll post another photo when they are finished.

Typography Digital Downloads

For years now, many of my art pieces have been available online through several printing partners such as Fine Art America and Imagekind.  They do a fabulous job of displaying, printing, framing, and shipping my art world-wide.  And you can't beat the quality of their work and customer service.  I create the work and do the advertising. - they do everything else and  I make a little money off each print.  I have no complaints about these services and will continue to use them.  However, by the time everyone involved gets their piece of the pie for printing, fine art papers or canvas, glass and framing, and then you add in shipping  .... it can get a little pricey.  And of course, the bigger the art, the bigger the price, while the profit for the artist - me - remains pretty much the same.

So, I've discovered a new way to share some of my art and save my buyers some money in the process.  Digital Downloads via Etsy!

This is how Digital Downloads work:

  • Visit my Etsy shop.
  • Select the print you want.
  • Pay for it with a credit card.  (You do not have to have a PayPal account.)
  • Upon receipt of your payment, a high resolution jpeg and pdf file of the art will be sent to your email address.  "Instant" Digital Downloads are usually sent within 1/2 hour.  Other Digital Downloads are sent within 3 work days.  All the ones I have posted right now are "Instant."
  • Once you receive the file, you can print it anyway you like (as long as you don't violate my *copyright.)
Advantages for you:
  • You will save money. The downloads on this page range in price from $3 to $5.
  • No shipping cost!
  • Instant gratification in the case of the "instant" digital download.
  • You can print it on your inkjet printer at home, your local print/copy shop, or any place you have photos or canvas photos printed.  Using heat transfers on your inkjet printer, you can also print these images on pillows, tote bags, T-shirts and other fabrics.

So - I have re-opened my  Lee Owenby Etsy Shop with just a few digital downloads of typography. This is something of an experiment just to see how it goes.  I chose typography files because I love doing these.  If you are into typesetting or graphic arts, you might be able to create these yourself, but I have them priced so low - $3 to $5 - why not just buy them and save yourself some time?  These are high resolution, so you can print big.

So I hope you'll visit my shop.  I'd love to hear from you - your comments on digital downloads or something you would like to see as a digital download.

Digital Downloads - Something A Little Different

I have re-opened my Etsy shop at and while I have big plans for the future (like my handmade jewelry and canvas paintings), for right now I'm going to focus on digital downloads or printable art for my typography.  Here's an example:

"So what's so good about digital downloads or printable art?" you ask.

First of all - it saves you money.  The download price for the piece shown above (without the watermark) is only $5.00.  Shipping Cost ?  Zero, zip, nada, zilch. So read on.

What Do You Get?
An instant digital download of the image (minus the watermark).  Once you purchase and pay for the listing, both a JPEG file and a PDF file will be delivered almost instantly to the email address you provide. Simply click on the link to download the file and save it to your computer.

Once you have the file on your computer, you can print it in a variety of ways.  The image size is 8 x 10, but the resolution is high enough to enlarge up to quadruple its size.  You can print it at home from your computer and printer, or you can take it to your local printer, or you can use any of the vast number of photo printing services on the internet.  Do an internet search for “photo prints” or “canvas photo prints”.  Yes, these images look great on canvas!  Printing from these images is just like having a photo printed.  It’s that easy!

You could have it printed on a coffee mug, tee shirt, pillow case, tote bag, mouse pad - whatever you like for your own personal use or as gifts.  You just can't market it, mass produce it or sell it because of my copyright.  "© Lee Owenby 2014. All rights reserved. This digital file is for personal use only and may only be used by the purchaser. You may not share, sell or alter this digital file in any way. Goods made using this file may not be sold. "
