I have some new things at Merison's that I wanted to share with you.
There are all about Paris, Tennessee.
I've taken some of my most popular (and personal favorites) from my "Windows On The Square" series and created a 16" x 20" collage. It is printed on archival paper with a matte finish. Ready to frame, no matting necessary. Just pop it into a standard 16x20 poster frame.
The one above is shown in color with a light sepia overlay but it can also be ordered in black and white or full color as shown below.
Also ....
An entire alphabet created from photographs taken in Paris and Henry County.
A great conversation piece. You and your friends will have fun guessing where the photos were taken. It is 16" x 20" and ready to frame. It may also be ordered with a
black background as shown below.
And the pièce de résistance ...
"Paris" on 12" x 30" gallery wrapped canvas.
I paint these signs myself in acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas (no frame necessary).
No two are alike. The letters are even different on each one as you can see below.
You can order them in whatever colors you like and they don't have to say "Paris." I can paint your last name or your favorite inspiration word like "dream" or "laugh" - whatever you like.
They come in different sizes: large 10" x 30", medium 8"x24", small 6" x 12".
Sometimes it's hard to give up a piece of artwork.
For several years now - well actually since about 2006 - most of my artwork has been photographic. I do a lot of photo manipulations, artwork that starts out as a photograph which I digitally add to or subtract from, alter colors, add textures and finally create a dazzling piece of artwork - like this.
But lately, I've started painting again. I mean like really painting with a paint brush, watercolor or acrylic paints and paper or canvas. And - it's different. When you actually paint every little spot of color that you have mixed to just the right shade of blue or yellow or ... whatever, it becomes very personal.
So sometimes, once I've finished a painting, it's really hard to put the painting up for sale.
"Happy Trees at Twilight"
But here it is. "Happy Trees at Twilight" is on display and for sale at Merison's in Paris, Tennessee. It's fairly large, 24" x 30", acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. The sides of the canvas are about 1 1/2" deep and painted black. No framing required. Ready to hang.
I've been hung up on trees lately. But I'm really having a good time painting happy trees!
This is the latest one. Not finished yet - but close. I would love to hear your ideas for title on this one. You can post it in the comments section below or email me.
This is the newest addition to my series "Windows On The Square." A series about the way I see downtown Paris, Tennessee. The original photograph was taken in front of the new location for Jack's Java on Courthouse Square.
This will be a limited edition of 30 prints. Print size is 7"x 9" on 8"x10" archival paper with archival ink. Each print will be signed and numbered. Loose prints $20.00, prints matted in white for 11"x14" framing for $30.00.
Prints will soon be available at Jack's Java, Merison's, and T.F. Rice and Co. Or you may pre-order by emailing me. (See contact information toward the top right of this page.)
Prints may also be special ordered in sepia or black and white as shown below - though I much prefer the color in this one.
I think this will become one of my favorite scenes of Paris.
Sunflowers have always been one of my favorite subjects to paint or draw in a very tight, detailed style as you can see by these pieces I did a few years ago.
Sunflower Window
Watercolor & Ink
Sunflowers
Colored Pencil & Ink
Sunflower Forest
Ink
I haven't actually painted since about 2008. Most of the images I do these days are photo manipulations and the occasional collage that might have just a little hand painting or drawing.
Lately though I've been kind of jumping around ... doing different things, trying my hand at things I have never done before (like jewelry) and experimenting with a new take on some of the mediums I've used in the past.
So it was time to do something different and a little challenging. I wanted to try something a little looser and vivid. So ...
Sunflower On Red
Acrylic
This was really an experiment with acrylic on a 14" x 18" canvas. But, I think I really like it and will be doing some more along this line.

I know you ask sometimes, “Where does she get these ideas?” Well, this is how “Elvis at the Paris City Auditorium” came about.
During the North Poplar Street Yard Sale last month, my Aunt Jane took me on a tour though some back yards. There was a sign she wanted me to see at the old Paris City Auditorium. The sign had something to do with Elvis.
We traveled down the driveway of Carol & Kenny Doster. We passed this Peace Sign.
Then we passed this really big paw print.
Did you know Bigfoot lived on North Poplar??
Then we came upon the old Paris City Auditorium.
It was a little sad to see it this way. According to Visit Downtown Paris - “This building was used for everything from basketball games to concerts. In its hey day of the 50’s and 60’s, everyone from Elvis to Jerry Lee Lewis to Flatt and Scruggs performed there. There are a million memories and songs permeating that building!”
We went inside.
There was a little old ....
And some new ...
And then,
I saw this.
And ... well, I became inspired.
So, I took this photo ....
And turned it into this.
Then I added the Elvis sign I had seen inside....
and put it on the front porch to get this.
And then I really got carried away. It just needed a little more Elvis. I won’t keep you in suspense anymore. This is the final product.
Hope you like it. I’m adding it to my “Windows On The Square” series.
Our Cat, Murphy, continues to be the subject of many of my photographs. He hasn't always been quite so willing to have his photo made. Maybe as he's gotten older, he's gotten slower. Murphy is about 18 years old. Let's see. In Cat years that would be .....
