Bead Making

 

I like to make paper and clay beads. The paper beads, in particular, are really time consuming. But making my own beads gives me complete control over quality and color. It also allows me to make jewelry that is truly original and "one of a kind" as shown in the sample below.

Just Couldn't Let It Bee

 The "Bee Box" that is.  I started this project back in the Spring when the Covid 19 pandemic began. It was my Quarantine Project and is a tribute to bees, thus the name "The Bee Box."  Little did I know then, there would be a second quarantine and that my husband would have knee surgery.  So I had a lot more time at home.

I promise this is the final chapter for the "Bee Box".

I bought this jewelry box at a yard sale just before COVID 19 started. Didn't know what I was going to do with it - said the woman who makes jewelry and has way too much of it.

 I did think - just to store jewelry in it -but that might be too boring.  So ....

 

this is what I have started.  I plan to cover the whole thing in whimsical bees, sunflowers, dragonflies, frogs, snails and anything else I can think of.  These sides are not finished yet.

Statement Necklaces for Fall and Winter

Big, bold statement necklaces are incredibly light - only 1.5 ounces. Handmade paper discs measure 2" in diameter. Each one has been hand painted in a base color of black, red, or green with marbling of gold and silver. Wooden beads have been hand painted to match. Jewelry is finished to make it water resistant. Bead closure can be fastened at 25" or 27". Can be adjusted about another inch each either way. I have three of these right now, one red, one green and one black. The all have a little gold marbeling. The black one has gold and silver marbeling.

Jack's Pool Room Prints, T-Shirts & Accessories

I suspect that most Henry Countians have been in Jack's Pool Hall at least once. It was built on court square in the 1920's and moved to it's current location on Brewer Street in the 1940's. It was a real hot spot in the railroad days and continues to attract folks with hopes of becoming another Minnesota Fats or Willie Mosconi or just to see what a real pool hall is like. And ... yes .... the original owner was named Jack.  Prints are available on my online gallery.

Photo Restoration - My Latest

I love doing photo restorations and this has been one of my favorites so far.

The 3" x 5" original 1920's photo of a very dapper couple was starting to fade, crumble and crack. The woman's face had all but disappeared. The owner wanted it cleaned up and enlarged a little.

This is it after I cleaned it up.  

Although you can't tell it here, it can now be printed as at least an 8" x 10".

I wasn't sure about the original background but I got the impression of clouds - so I added in a faint cloud background.  I also printed the couple's name and circa 1920 on the front of the photo.  So many times the photo information is printed on the back and then the photo has to be removed from the album to see it.  Often times the back is ruined from glue pulling off the back.

How It Works

Customers send me a scan made at 300 resolution or mail the original to me.  If you don't have a scanner, most print shops can scan photos and might email it to me for you.

I charge $35 minimum for the first 2 hours of work and then $10 an hour after that.  I also charge a $10 fee for each additional photo.  This photo by itself would have cost $35. 

I send you a proof and you pay by pay pal, cash, or check.  Your payment must clear before I email the finished, full-size photo to you.

You can print it at home or have it printed just as you would any other photo.
